Soumya Biswajit

Artiste | Sitarist | Writer | Music Producer | Researcher

Soumya Biswajit is a sitariya (sitarist) belonging to the Imdadkhani Gharana, currently under the guidance of Guru Shri Subhranil Sarkar. His work goes beyond his sitar performances and includes music production, academic research, writing, and the preservation of rare traditions, and the Odissi musical tradition.

Based in Bhubaneswar (India), Soumya is on a mission to bring Odissi music and literature to the forefront of contemporary cultural consciousness through multiple medias like recordings, books, performances, and other evolving forms.
As both a scholar and an artiste, there's an innate need to bridge the structure of classical music with the free-flowing spirit of digital-age creativity to cater to the modern-day internet-consuming audience.
